My TSH test has come back as 2.18 which is within normal limits whereas my T3 test has come back as 11.6 which isn't.

whats it in refence to?

I think that may suggest you have hyperthyroidism, i.e. over active, (but I'm not medical so not sure) has your GP talked to you about the results?

pinkbasket · 24/09/2010 16:06

My GP thinks I am fine but my symptoms and family history say different. I have had 3 blood tests done and have 2 results back. I am fairly sure I have hypothyroidism.

But if it's subclinical (and with those results it appears to be) there is no treatment. Any treatment would change the symptoms not make you any better.

I don't want to patronise you but it may just be that this is not the problem. I'm sure there is something wrong if you have been to the doctor three times. But perhaps it's not hyperthyroidism.

What are your symptoms? :)

pinkbasket · 24/09/2010 16:22

It isn't hyperthyroidism that I seem to have symptoms for but hypothyroidism. I have just phoned to ask for the results again to check I wrote them down correctly. I have been given different TSH results and this time T4 results and not T3 like before. I will be going to next week to get a prescription and will ask for a printout and an appointment.
My symptoms are feeling cold all the time, no weight loss no matter how well I eat or how much I exercise, always tired, vision problems and strong family history.

Oh OK - apologies, I have hypothyroidism, and thought high T3 meant the opposite, as I said I have no med. knowledge. Smile

Your symptoms certainly sound similar to some of mine, have they tested for anything else that might be causing your symptoms?

I also had skin problems, very dry hair and a croaky voice, inability to concentrate on anything (couldn't read a book for instance).

If it's not hypothyroidism, I hope they find out what's causing it soon, keep asking until you get some answers.

I will because this just doesn't seem right to me. Thanks.
