Its itching, sore, very swollen and seems to be having a cold ie there is yucking stuff coming out of it.

Dh got him from work and asked who'd punched me in the eye as it was so swollen.

I've been to the docs and got penicillin and that yucky cream/drops stuff. Taken the tablet but working up to doing the eye.

But basically I look like this Wink Anything else I can do?

Bathe it in boiled water (cooled down first, obviously) regularly.

Be very strict about not sharing towels/flannels etc. Dry your eye with a clean, small towel/flannel. Wash these on a hot wash. Change pillowcase daily. Avoid too much facial contact with others - conjunctivitis spreads v easily indeed. If your dcs get it they will have to be off school/nursery.

deemented · 23/09/2010 21:31

Squirt some breastmilk into it.

BunnyLebowski · 23/09/2010 21:33

Grin at dee. Assuming one has a lactating lady in one's reach?

DP had this and I begged him to let me pick his eye bogeys Blush.

LoveBeingInvitedToTheVIPSale · 23/09/2010 21:34

Thanks onepiece, dd had a 'stcky' eye when she got up a couple of days ago, not uncommon when she has a bit of a cold, but that has been it. Fingers crossed.

deemented, I may need to call for a kind mnetter to send me some as I haven't bf dd for almost 2 years. Anyway in my present one eyed capacity I'd probably squirt the wrong eye Confused

I'd offer but even my aim isn't that good... Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 23/09/2010 21:37

I treated mine with my own breastmilk too - it does work!

But slightly irksome if you apply directly in front of others. Grin

onepieceoflollipop · 23/09/2010 21:37

Does it have to be your own breast milk or would anyone's do? Serious question btw but I haven't got any, like you op I stopped feeding a while ago. :)

whomovedmychocolate · 23/09/2010 21:38

Anyones would do - well any humans breastmilk - don't try cowmilk or anything daft.

deemented · 23/09/2010 21:39

Well, my friend treated her husbands greeny finger with breastmilk baths (not a whole bath, obviously, just a bit in a big bowl) and it cleared up wonderfully.

LoveBeingInvitedToTheVIPSale · 23/09/2010 21:40

LoveBeingInvitedToTheVIPSale · 24/09/2010 07:25

Blimey I thought my eye was bad yesterday but no, today I wake up and eventually manage to open my yucky eye to find I am having an allergic reaction to the drops.

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 24/09/2010 08:55

Ha!

werewolf · 24/09/2010 09:05

Gosh, how do you know you've got an allergic reaction?
Sounds like it couldn't get any worse than it already was? Shock

deemented · 24/09/2010 09:24

Seriously... if you're in South Wales i don't mind expressing a bit if you want an eye wash....

MrsBadger · 24/09/2010 11:33

oh yes, I too am allergic to the normal drops
go back to the gp. there's another one they can give you

LoveBeingInvitedToTheVIPSale · 24/09/2010 11:47

Anywho doc says if the tablets dont kick in by tomorrow then iv antibiotics for me Shock

I get this regularly every 3 months. The ointment is the best thing (put it in last thing at night as too vile to walk round with it in).

You can also roll a gold ring over it. I know it sounds crackers! (Wash the ring after, PP is right about how easily it spreads)

werewolf · 24/09/2010 14:38

Ooh, that looks so sore.
Hope it clears up soon.
