Echinacea for prevention of colds

Hi

Just wondering if anyone gives their ds/dds Echinacea to prevent colds and if you think it makes a difference.

Also, ds is 18mnths old, can they take it at this age? If so, how much?

Sorry, don't know much about Echinacea, so any help/advice will be great.

Thanks

noooo don't give it to so,meone so young!!! 'm no way a prof sp someone will prob disagree but its an immune booster and if tsaken too regularky could cause ur bady to rely on it.

Vitamin is better to have (oranges etc) but theres no way to prevent a cold anyway echinacea or no

My MIL is always ranting how good Echinacea is. DH tried it and he says it did nothing for him.
You might find This and this interesting.

I think at your sons age they do tend to get cold after cold as their immune system develops.

There is a chewable children's echinacea tablet available at the chemist. Not sure if it is suitable for a child of 18 months though.

I gave it to my 9 yr old dd last winter and she had far less colds and chesty coughts than the previous winter. Don't know if it was the echinacea but am def going to use it on her this year, she has slight asthma ... don't know about giving it to an 18 month old but there should be loads of info on the internet.
