I hurt my fingers on Friday; still really sore :(

Was out with friends at the park on Fridat and, whilst attempting to get rid of a wasp, I fell backwards from where I was sitting and landed heavily on my hand. I hurt the two fingers near my thumb, on my right hand. My hand was open as a Ifell so my two fingers were apart and when I fell it split them apart further IYSWIM.

It hurt at the time obviously.

However 3 days later it still hurts. There is no swelling and no bruising. But when I move my fingers, clench my hand, etc. it hurts. Not agony, but enough to make me whince.

It's my right hand so I have obviously been using it all the time, just sore when I do and afterwards. It's my typing hand too.

What have I done to it, and how long will I have to be sore when MNetting?!

Have you been taking iboprofen? Did you ice it? I don't know whether ice would still help, but taking maxdose of iboprofen would, I think.

I don't think this is a break, it sounds like a soft tissue injury to me, if you still have full movement without agony.

It's not a break no. I figured that. It's just sore.

No ice at time. Have done since. Took ibuprofen the day I did it, but don't like taking it for long so not bothered since.

How can DD fall over so often, end up covered in bruises but seemingly not notice or feel anything 5 minutes later. I bash myself once and 3 days later it still hurts. Hmmm. Am I getting old?

ooh, poor you. Sounds like you have overstretched the ligaments or similar. You will have to have a break from mumsnetting!

Are you mad!!! No MN, no intenret. ha!

Going to go into town later so, break then...

Do take maxdose iboprofen, that will help - it's not just a painkiller, it's an antiinflammatory. If you're sure it's not a break, any chance you can self-refer to a physio if it keeps up? They treat with ultrasound and massage and exercises, often fix things very well without unpleasant interventions (injections into joints and similar).

Otherwise, a GP can give you a more serious anti-inflammatory.

Also, the default RICE treatment - rest, ice, compression, elevation.

OK then - more drugs I'll grab some more whilst I am out.

Rest - ha, not typing?! My job tomorrow is ALL typing, well almost all. At least here I can type one handed and slowly. Tomorrow, no chnce. best get some tablets in. It may be even more sore after a day of it!

Hmm, compression might be worth trying tomorrow? Some sort of snug gloves? If you have anything likely-looking about, it would be worth trying. If it makes typing less painful, then use them? (Hopefully your job tomorrow is relatively private, so you won't look too bonkers typing away with gloves on?)

Ha ha. Can just imagine the inmate's laughing at me with my gloves on in the office. Especially the younger lads. Very trendy, miss!
