dig it out with a needle

bytheMoonlight · 18/09/2010 12:09

Is that the best way?

I asked DH to do it but hes not keen and stops when it starts to hurt me

Which is frustrating as I just want him to carry on and get it out

I second the needle attack

Can't you reach it yourself - then you can control the level of pain

Right then, tonight is mission armpit hair no matter if he likes it or not, thanks everyone Smile

You are going to have to hide how much it hurts then!

In all seriousness, if you don't remove it now BEFORE it's infected, it's going to hurt a hell of a lot more then. Swab it with alcohol, and the needle or whatever and just tell him to go for it - it'll be a bit sore for an hour and job done.

Any alcohol?

Put a really hot flannel on it first. Tea tree oil also v good to prevent infection.

DH tried, it was full of nasty gunk. But he couldn't find a hair, he plucked one a tiny one but that was growing the right way so don't think we achieved much.

He says I need to go to see the doctor.

I think he just needs to dig more

Make him dig. Slather on teatree after

mummynoseynora · 18/09/2010 20:53

oooh I have never used a needle - just kind of poked and prodded like an awkward spot! Blush I normally find the actual hair once the inflamation from the gunk etc has gone down - I should point out this doesn't happen to me every day like it sounds, but I have had a few over the years!

popeonarope · 18/09/2010 20:54

Oh you horrible lot - drawing ointment would have dragged it to the surface painlessly by the morning and you could have plucked it. Hmm

Magnesium sulphate paste from the pharmacist.

JaynieB · 18/09/2010 20:56

I wouldn't dig around, let it heal and more often than not, the hair will have worked its way to the surface.

bytheMoonlight · 18/09/2010 21:00

I'll leave it till Monday then, give it a chance to heal a bit and if I can't see the hair I'll go the chemist and get Magnesium sulphate.

popeonarope · 18/09/2010 21:03

Honestly mag sulphate is the way to go. If you poke it, it will get infected and you will get a bit hard sore lump.

WinkyWinkola · 18/09/2010 21:03

Exfoliate every time you have a shower to prevent more ingrowing hairs. Use a scrub or a rough sponge. And moisturise a lot too.

I'd not dig about an infected ingrowing hair. I'd gently exfoliate and put antiseptic cream on afters every time.

onepieceoflollipop · 18/09/2010 21:06

Jaynie is right I think. It is just an annoyance that you have a spot plus a hair for a day or two while it works its way to the surface.

Imagine the satisfaction in a day or two when you can grab it and pull it out properly. Grin
