ds saw orthoptist in April, (he is now 21 months) and we were told he is probably quite short sighed but to come back if we notice things deteriorating
recently both dh and I have noticed he has a glazed look when looking further and we think the problem has got worse
question is anyone got experience of this, and if he is very short sighted what can be done about it at his age?, I am assuming that it cannot be put right. also how is it likely to affect him development wise and how can i help him

thanks Tumblemum

ds2 is very shortsighted. Apparently, the glasses that they give him do make a difference, so they told us.
Also, they said that he will get better as he gets older (this is natural), but that he will probably always need glasses.
We left it quite late, he was around 4 before he started wearing them. We used to get shouts of "I cant see!" as he would push his way firmly past his older siblings to get a good view of things. However, now that he has them, his school work is very good.
Be prepared for lots of broken glasses!
