I have at the moment and just wanted to know when your life went back to normal?

How long were you on the treatment?

My Mum had this about about 18 months ago she is only now getting back to normal I'm afraid. Of course she's in her 60's, so that makes a difference.

Her doctor says about 6 months per clot; she apparently had multiple clots on both lungs-very luck to be alive really.

Please take good care of yourself it's really frustrating I know, but you will need to rest and pace yourself for a good while yet. Make sure your dh/dp knows how serious this is and helps plenty. I would get a cleaner too.

My Mum tried to work pt after a few months, but only started to get better when she gave up.

Gosh, you ARE very young for that kind of trouble, poor you, OP! Did they figure out a reason why it happened to you? Hope you get better very quickly.

My dad had several blood clots in both lungs about 3 weeks ago. He is ok now, in fact going on holiday tomorrow.

His did not present typically (no sudden pain in chest, no sudden breathlessness, no leg pain from previous leg thrombosis; all built up over several days) and it took him a while to seek medical advice... he is a lucky, lucky man Smile!

He was on Clexane injections for first 10days or so, now on warfarin only. His dr said he should continue taking it (and Aspirin) for 6 months.

He is physically almost back to normal, but struggles coming to terms with the fact that his body let him down so badly.

Hello,

Thanks for the replies.

I have a clotting condition called Thrombophilia, and i was pregnant when i got them so my chances were big for getting them.

I also had a womb infection, that luckily highlighted the blood clots,i had retained placenta for 9 weeks. So that was the only reason they were discovered.

I just hope i can get back to normal soon,Its so hard as dh is so so ill himself and i normally look after him,its all a mess really.

But on the bright side i have a beautiful son to show for it all.

I had 2 small clots on my lungs almost 2 years ago, I was 27 at the time.

I was told it takes around 6 weeks for the clots to be reabsorbed into the blood, but I suppose that could depend on the size. I was on warfarin for 6 months afterwards and wore compression stockings.

I've since been found to have prothrombin gene variant, but I am not on meds any more. Strangely, I managed 3 pregnancies without problems, and just seem to develop the clots for no apparent reason Confused

It is a very scary experience, how long ago did it happen?

Congratulations on the birth of your ds Smile

Thanks Blissa,

I found out sat just gone. Only found out through having a womb infection. On reading my discharge notes it appears i have two large ones and two small ones.

Very scary indeed, I have the gene variant too but my pregnancies have been not so good because of it. My first son was stillborn in 2005 at 36+6 the placenta was blocked with clots and he didn't survive.

Its a really crappy thing to have, i have been told no exercise for 6 months!!Not good when i have a few pregnancy stone to shift. Oh well it will just take a bit longer.

No advice to give but couldn't read and run.
So sorry to hear about your Ds Sad.
I hope you feel back to normal soon.

I'm sorry to hear about your ds Sad

Is that when they found out you had the gene variant? Did they give you anticoags through this pregnancy?

I was told to do lots of long walks, but no running!
