I have just got my date through for my operation (26th August), and just wondering what really to expect after the op. How long to rest etc etc.

TIA

Poor you Breeeze - I had carpel tunnel when pregnant with ds2. Luckily I didn't need an op, got away with wearing a brace thing for 4 months. Not much fun when dealing with a newborn, but better than an op.

ive got 2 friends that have had the operation and theyre both really happy with it,one of them had it done 2 weeks ago and she had her arm in a sling for one day,a bit of disconfort for two days but by the third day she was doing things as normal even pushing the pram, you`ll be fine, good luck!

I had carpal tunnel when I was pregnant - whatever the recovery is like it'll be bliss when it's all gone away - lots of luck and here's to no more pins and needles waking you up, no more dead feeling etc etc xx

Breeze I had C.T. surgery on both hands, one at a time, three months apart, about 8 years ago.
It was done under local anaesthetic and went absolutely fine. The injections were a bit stingy but nothing too bad at all.
I had to be off work for a month each time but could have gone back much earlier if it wan't for the fact my job involves delicate finger work and hand strength.
For some reason one healed quicker than the other.I think the stitches got taken out after one week ( or was it two?)
I do remember getting worried and upset at how weak my hands were at first, but the strength soon returned.
They have healed very well with faint scars.
My grip is definitely weaker than it used to be but this only shows itself when I try to open tight jars - something I used to be very good at but no longer am
I am very glad I had it done, in fact I wished I had it done sooner as I faffed about for several months before going to the doctor's about it. The carpal tunnel symptoms have gone completely and did not even return in pregnancy.
Hope this helps.

Thanks all

I first noticed it when DS was a few weeks old, It was put down to a symptom of my PND, but now 3.5 years later, I am having the op.
