People keep telling me to see my GP about possible Dyspraxia (in myself), what do I say?

To be honest, I think they've got a point. I'm extraordinarily clumsy, I have problems with short term memory sometimes (but amongst friends have an unparalelled long term memory) and I have a terrible sense of direction. These are just an example of my little quirks btw. People despair of me sometimes!

More than one person has now said to me that I should go see someone about Dyspraxia. I dismissed it at first but now it's been said to me multiple times, I'm wondering if it's worth speaking to my GP about.

What should I say to him? Will I get laughed out of the room? I'm 26 btw, so is this too late to get a diagnosis? Will I have to declare this as a disability or a learning difficulty to work etc?

I'm sorry for the amount of questions, but I would be very appreciative of any help!

Hi taintedpaint, look out for a book "Could it be You?: Overcoming Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, OCD, Tourette's Syndrome, Autism and Asperger's Syndrome in Adults " by Dr Robin Pauc.

It will tell you more than GP could.

Contact the Dyspraxia Foundation for advice etc.

Noone will laugh at you.
