Starting to worry...please reassure me

I've been having bleeding/spotting/discharge for 5 weeks now. There is a constant 'achey' feeling, a bit like period pain but not crampy like my period pains were. It spreads through to my lower back.

I had a clear smear test in August (following treatment for CIN3 in Feb). GP will not take me seriously - she treats me like a silly girl. She tested for STIs, this was clear so she has now decided that it is 'a hormonal bleed caused by the Depo injection'. I've been having this injection for 12 months with no problems.

I'm sure this isn't a 'period type' bleed, when it's blood it's watery and the pain isn't like normal period pain.

So, please reassure me that it can't be anything to worry about at 26, and if I ignore it like GP suggests it will just go away eventually. Sad

i wouldn't be jumping to any conclusions, basically, but yes, it isn't nothing, so you do need to see someone. why should you suffer here, it's ridiculous.

have you done a pregnancy test more recently than a week, btw?

GoldPlated · 14/09/2010 21:27

No I haven't Aitch.

if you've got one floating around you might as well do it, it would be comforting to have two negative tests imo, while you are waiting to be seen.

Hi goldplated, where did you have the CIN3 treated, if is was a local colposcopy clinic you could probable call them explain your symptoms and be seen by them.

BelaLugosiNoir · 15/09/2010 07:32

Have you had a normal period since the treatment in Feb?
Did you have a follow up appt at colposcopy?

It may be that the cervical os is stenosed as part of the treatment and that the menstrual flow..well...can't. This could then cause the lower uterine ache and pains.

I second fannybaws suggestion of giving the colposcopy unit a ring and getting advice from them. The symptoms sounds seem to those you get post LLETZ treatment - did you have similar symptoms back in Feb and did these start after you had your follow-up test?

Back later, work calls!

GoldPlated · 15/09/2010 10:52

Colposcopy won't see me, they say I've been discharged and therefore need to be referred again. No appointments at doctors, so am waiting for a doctor to call me.

Bela - no periods at all since I started the depo a year ago. After the Lletz I had very light spotting for a couple of days, nothing like this and the pain was more 'crampy'.

This current bleeding/spotting all started a couple of days after my follow up smear at start of August.

What may have happened is that you healed quickly after the LLETZ, then the recent follow up test has disturbed the scar/repair tissue. It could be that your body is reacting to that. There was another thread recently where the OP had similar symptoms after her 1st follow up. Search on my name and you should 've able to find it.

Did the GP examine you ie look at your cervix at the recent appt?
I think you need to see someone else; there are a few possible reasons for your symptoms but after 5 wks really it needs investigation.

Let us know how you get on.
