question re. dd's poo..

ok sorry if TMI but..

dd keeps trying to 'fiddle' with her bottom.. I've asked if it's itching annd she say yes (this has been for a few days)

Yesterday I thought I saw some blood in her poo but thought maybe it was just something she'd eaten.

Today her poo was green.. from memory I keep thinking that if a babys poo is green it means there is blood in it (but I'm not sure IIRC or not). Does anyone know?

The diameter of her poo lately (sorry) is also astonishing. Wider than an adults I'm sure but seems to be made up of lots of little 'pebbles' stuck together.

she used to suffer terribly from persistant constipation but that stopped probably about a year ago.

Obviously I have no experience of childrens poo so I don't know whether I should be concerned or not. I was starting to think maybe a pile or worms but no sign of either...

you could alternatively just check her poo, they'll be in that if shes got them, i've never known anyone who had worms not have them in their poo.

my 6yr old had worms.horrible for them, they do move fast so you dont always see them on their bottom.doc said that when they poo it usually pushes them out, most people dont know they've got them. but if they are in a lot of discomfort ,best to treat it.the green poo usually means an upset stomach/cold?

is anal fissure the right term? Might be so tiny you couldn't see it?

Never heard of the green poo theory...

Lilyloos · 03/09/2005 21:35

If its an anal fissure (sp?) then the blood would be bright red & on the outside of the poo. HTH.

Thank you.

DD has said her bum has stopped itching. Think I might dose her with worming stuff to be on the safe side.

green poo can be a result of eating lots of green leafy veg or things with blue food colouring.
(From personal observations )
