I'm so freaked out by this - twice in last two weeks

You need to see your GP.

Could be as simple as an infection - in which case I think it might be wise to postpone the weekend.

SnakesAreDrivingMeInsane · 13/09/2010 12:55

oh really? will try to get appt this week - what sort of infection? I have no other symptoms...

can't postpone w/e, has been organised for month, hotel booked, all around an event on Saturday

(I love Taytos, best crisps EVER)

Urinary Tract Infection. Have you been weeing more during the day? Is it painful? Does your wee look cloudy or smell funny?

kreecherlivesupstairs · 13/09/2010 13:22

Have you had a couple of drinks before bed. Alcoholic ones? Agree with the others though, go to see your GP. You don't want to introduce golden showers before you find out if BF is interested in that sort of thing.

SnakesAreDrivingMeInsane · 13/09/2010 14:31

yes, couple of glasses of wine each evening - literally 2 - 2.5 glasses though, not bottles - I'm a lightweight now

no more weeing than usual, or maybe a bit (always have to wee tonnes, its ridiculous) - no pain

no funny stuff in the wee

NO to golden showers NO No No No NOOOOOO

got appt on weds

Ask her to refer you to a continence nurse. Are you going to the toilet before you go to bed?

pagwatch · 15/09/2010 11:27

can I ask.. are you over tired or stressed and have you had some alcohol free nights recently

ThingOne · 15/09/2010 11:41

Sorry to hear no obvious answer. Buy some incontinence pads in the short term and wear them at night. Have a look on the tena website (I'm sure there are loads of other brands too) and work out what you think you need.

Don't be embarrassed to buy them but if you are you could go to a giant boots or get them delivered with your groceries.

But honestly, this kind of thing does not need to ruin your life. You just need to manage it while you are working out how to solve it.

As far as I know (through a friend's child's problem!) s hormone is responsible for shutting down your need to urinate while you are asleep, and sends the urine back around the kidneys. If the hormone doesn't kick in, you wet the bed. Has your GP tested for this hormone? Sorry for the third hand layman description.

SnakesAreDrivingMeInsane · 15/09/2010 11:57

BdCFB - am going to loo before bed - always do

pagwatch - yes stressed, separated from husband, just found out he has split from OW and is trying to deal with his alcoholism which was cause of us splitting (one of causes, but probably primary one), trying to manage f/t job and two kids just back at school on my own mostly

have had alcohol free nights, most nights are alcohol free (due to history with DH don't really tend to drink much - hence my being a lightweight!) both nights I wet bed probably had slightly over two glasses of wine, wasn't pissed (groan, awful pun, wasn't intentional)

thingone - thanks for the info. GP didn't check any hormones. She admitted being stumped as it doesn't seem to be a regular physical incontinence issue (no problem in day or EVER before) main issue on my mind at moment is looming romantic weekend with new man...won't be so romantic if I hop into bed in a pair of tena briefs will it?

aaaarrrgh!

I really don't need this ! (mind you, who would?)

Snakes
Is it possible that stress is affecting your sleep patterns?

If you are often sleeping lightly then maybe a glass of wine makes you ( or allows you to) go into a much deeper sleep IYSWIM - and that is stopping you waking when you et the bladder full signals

I know someone who had lost her husband and , without even realising , got into the habit of poor sleep. She had no notion she was so stressed and tired until what happened to you also happened to her. It was also after a drink and she too was a very light drinker.

The glass of wine just knockered her out.

Does that make sense?

HuckingFell · 15/09/2010 13:03

worms can cause bed wetting

ThingOne · 15/09/2010 13:17

Ok for romantic weekend put a sneaky towel under the sheet while new man not looking, and have sexy pants ready lined with a slim pad by side of bed, and put them on after romantic intimate moment.

Good luck!

SnakesAreDrivingMeInsane · 15/09/2010 13:34

pagwatch - yes, sounds familiar... I am also unutterably tired so maybe sleeping more deeply

huckingfell - cheers! maybe it CAn get worse! although then at least there would be a physical reason I guess

thingOne - have ordered disposable incontinence pads (the ignominy!) and will put one under sheet (but what about sheet itself? waaaah) will dig out some presentable pants and line with tena pad

oh dear god how has it come to this? instead of stockings and suspenders for a sexy weekend away (not that that was ever really me either, but the intention was there) I am reduced to packing knickers with wide gussets, tena lady pads, and incontinence sheets...

oh ye gods!
