Hypothyroid and want to talk to my GP about starting a family

I am new here and was looking for a bit of advice. We were hoping to start trying for a baby in June, one year from the date I started my latest dose of Levo. I am hypothyroid but when diagnosed was hit with so many help problems (temp loss of sight, limbs going numb, passing out), and spent sometime in hospital. Its taken a lot to regulate this and not taking any chances jumping into the next stage without being 100 percent sure I feel that my thyroid is under control.

Its scares me a bit because my health went so south, I have worked on losing the weight I gained, hope to hit "goal" with WW just before we start a family and my GP has been very supportive but has been getting less and less involved.

I want to be able to share my feelings about wanting to be careful and take every precaution I can. My thyroid books have said I need to be careful with my levels in the very early stages of a pregnancy and have blood tests every 4 weeks to make sure my dose is upped and within the "safe" range.

Is it worth trying to show this information to my GP, before I want to try for a family and let her know how nervous I am?

there may be a clinic that you can be seen in before you get pregnant, worth asking your GP.

You'll prob be referred to the endo-gynae clinic as soon as you fall preg, and will need more monitoring.

Good luck.
