I'm worried I have MS

For the past year I have had pins and needles, and a strange prickly pain, mostly in my hands and feet. I went to the GP and he said I looked dehydrated, (which I was, as I was drinking more than 10 cups of tea/coffee a day, and hardly any water), and therefore my symptoms were probably migrane related. He told me to halve my caffine intake, and drink 1.5 l of water a day.

I am trying to do this, and things improved for awhile, but in the past few days they have got worst. I also sometimes at night get blurry vision, but thought this was due to using a computer all day.

Now I have got myself into abit of a state after doing some 'research' on the internet, I have convinced myself it must be MS. I will make an appointment with the GP tomorrow, but it won't be till next week, so I was wondering if has anyone suffered anything similar and it turned out to be something less serious? Anything positive would be greatly appreciated x

get your B12 levels and thyroid checked.

get your eyes checked also.

try not to worry (easier said than done i know).

i have been checked for MS and have had pins and needles in hands and feet, blurred vision and weakness/tiredness amongst other things.

had a MRI and everything... nothing wrong at all. i do have thyroid issues though so that seems a more likely culprit for me.

I get pins and needles and don't ahve MS,.

STOP drinking so much coffee. Tea is fine (it still counts towards your fluid intake, coffee does to a degree but not if it;s strong 'proper' coffee)
How old are you, what is your weight? Is there another reason you could be having crappy circulation (reynauds?)
Is your bed OK?

Don't look on the internet. It's crap.

I have had cancer and now think everything is life threatening. According to internet have had all sorts of fatal diseases but in reality I am fine.

Read "Three Men in a Boat" and see how easy it is to get horrible diseases to fit your symptoms. Then cut down on the coffee, sleep more and relax, and see your doctor.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your messages - they have really helped.
TonariNoTotoro, I'm 36, and a normal weight. I don't have great circulation though, as I do get reynauds in the winter, and always have cold hands/feet.
I forget to say that I have had a blood test, and thyroid and blood sugars were fine. Not sure if they checked for B12? Going to make appt now.

You should try drinking rehydration drinks, just one or two a day for a few days, like those recommended post tummy bug. It has been hot the last few days and it is possible you have low levels of electrolytes. Dehydration is not just water you are losing, it is the salts as well, and compensating with too much pure water can flush the last of them out.

I have problems absorbing salts (not suggesting you do as it is a surgical complication, not a condition) and your symptoms sound very similar to mine when I need to hydrate with proper drinks. It can't do any harm and you might be surprised how quickly you feel better. I also have Reynauds and think that might be why the tingling comes first when my blood pressure drops from dehydration - I always get to the drinks before the headaches now though and am fine.

I suffered the same as you are describing. It was finally diagnosed as anxiety. I did have ADs which helped.

It was definitely related to caffeine intake. I have slowly reduced the caffeine and feel so much better.

I started a job and could not have as much coffee as I had been drinking at home, and this is when my symptoms became really bad.

If I go to a restaurant where they serve very strong coffee it sometimes returns.

If you cut down do it very slowly or the symptoms get worse.
