Has anyone on here had thier Gallbladder removed and still had pain/prolems afterwards? I had both my Appendix and Gallbladder removed late last (seperate surguries) year but am still having extreme pain in my gallbladder area. I have been to my GP several times who say its scar tissue Hmm and even earlier this year had to goto A&E twice the pain was that intense. They kinda just fobbed me off and made me feel like I was a disolutional pain in the arse Angry So, just wanting your experiances etc please. Thank you!

Insist on a referral back to your consultant/surgeon. He may be right and it may just be scar tissue but you could also have a small stone left in whats left of the duct or a condition where the remaining duct goes into spasm. Either way you will need another scan to confirm.

My sister had similar pain for months after her gallbladder removal. She was scanned and it was scar tissue and inflammation that she'd aggravated by too much lifting too soon. Rest, pain killers and NO LIFTING and she's right as rain now.

Don't be fobbed off by GP, insist on another scan

Ditto what Pheebe said - I was in pain two days after having my gall bladder removed. Went back to A&E and they whipped me back in. Gall stone stuck in bile duct. Endoscopy performed, stone removed, right as rain.

Are you slightly yellow? Exhausted?

I had my gall bladder removed in 1999 due to horendous pain in that area. The pain continued after the operation, and I too was fobbed off for some time. However, i stood my ground and insisted on further tests. I was later diagnosed with crohns disease and had to have a partial bowel removal. Im not trying to scare you, but you know your body and if you are in pain insist more is done to investigate why.

Hope this helps. Take care X

SunnyDays06.........had mine out last year and i was in agony for 2 months afterwards. Initially the consultant said...'oh you will be back at work in 2 weeks'I was told that when they take a gall bladder out, they do not flush the duct incase they flush a stone into the pancreas. Sometimes there is still a stone left in the duct and the duct of Oddi can become inflamed or very rarely the small stone can go into the pancreas (as the duct is a common duct between the 2 organs)and cause pancreatitis, which i had previously. I really sympathise...its agony.

Sunny - I found I had to be very careful what I ate afterwards. Not too much fat, lay off the booze. Curry and spicey food absolutley kills me. I had endoscopy and gastroscopy but nothing found.

In desperation I went on a coeliac diet cutting out all gluten and lactose (milk) and felt a lot better.

Kelly - interesting that Crohns and coeliac are both autoimmune condtions.

I had my Gall Bladder removed last april after five weeks i had no pain.Since then I have had a very similar pain over the area where the Gall Bladder was removed .
My DR also said it was scar tissue pain and to take two Paracetomol for it, it even hurts whilst travelling as a passenger in a car like it did before.

Be vigilant your diet. Keep fat down to a minimum.

I had my gallbladder out 13 years ago and often get similiar pains to you if I've strayed with my diet.
