DD1, who has just turned 6, has really quite stinky armpits
She showers daily, with help from us, so I'm pretty sure that her hygiene needs are being met. It's just that it's really quite noticable- as bad as an adults. On holiday last week, she got rather fragrant as a result of running around on a hot day. We were walking just in front of a group of women, one of whom remarked "blimey, one of them really needs a wash!".
DD1 was blisfully unaware, but I felt so crushed and sad that this had happened, not to mention embarassed that people might think she is unclean.

Has anyone any experience of this? I'm desparately worried she'll be teased in school and want to do what I can to prevent it from happening. On the other hand, I don't want to make her self conscious, and cause a problem, IYSWIM.

There is this thread but it doesn't seem to offer any answers specifically {http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=138&threadid=88971\Sweaty Armpit Thread}

But does show that you aren't alone, the smell is usually bacteria

Thanks guys. I've begun to realise that the BO is worse after she's been eating garlic and chili. She smells of fenugreek the day after eating a curry! Dh reminded me that he is affected that way too, so maybe there is a genetic link?

garlic definitely leaves via the pores in your skin, I recommend sanex as very effective too and ph balanced ..I think there might be something herbal you can take to help (would have to take care though regarding a young child dose/appropriateness)

If you scroll down on this page then there are deodorant crystal remedy which might help once you have established she is OK, also could there be a connection with yeast products eg marmite, mushrooms, bread etc?
