Oh I'd like to hear some suggestions too. For dd.

One I heard - haven't tried it. Would you mind being a guinea pig Katym? Before I experiment on DD?

Take a clean wet(damp?) cloth. Put in a microwaveable cup. Heat in Micro to steaming. Put cup next to offending ear (not, obviously, if it's scalding hot!!).

Theory is that the steam(warmth) rises into the ear, softens wax and gunk, you then lie on your side with ear downwards so ear can drain. Get it?

Maybe worth a try? Can't do any harm (I hope)

I don't think my ear is gooey in that way - it's sort of wet & itchy and sore rather than waxy

Do you think you have an ear infection?

KatyMac · 31/08/2010 22:22

Apparently (according to the GP - tho' tbh so many of my family have been misdiagnosed recently I'm not convinced) it's eczema

Hm what do you think it is? ( I am not medically trained by the way - just an itchy ear sufferer - and sometimes it drives me crazy!!)

I have a great diagnosis (on a par with "it's a virus" and "Have you had it before? Well you've got it again")

It's 'sore' and 'itchy' and sounds 'wet' when I scratch/rub it

So do your ears feel blocked or full?
Well I usually have an itchy or sore throat and sinus alongside so I treat the blocked eutachian tube. Ie with steam inhalation, decongestants, antihistamene etc. I do this hoping the ears will be better able to sort them selves out! Hope you feel better soon! I have heard that coloidal siver ear drops can help but have never tried this myself but maybe others know something about it?

KatyMac · 01/09/2010 08:54

No - not at all

Just itchy & sore

KatyMac I have something similar at the mo and GP said it was an infection in the ear canal and I have some antibiotic ear drops to use.

But it doesn're really feel "wet" just painful especially when pressure is applied to the ear.

KatyMac · 01/09/2010 16:24

I have Gentisome (sp) drops

KatyMac, you might find hopi ear candling useful, although it depends on the level of infection, fine if its eczema. You can find out more about it on my website if you want to take a look: www.codsallholistictherapies.co.uk/pages/available-therapies.php#ear

You would need to google search to find a qualified therapist close to you.

Good luck X

Thanks

My ear is bleeding now - so I guess it's back to the GP
