Help choosing where to get single measle vaccine?

DD is coming up to the age when she should be having the MMR but we have decided against this and are planning to get her single vaccine instead.

I have found a list of clinics where single jabs are availbe on the Jabs website but am a little nervous about how I go about choosing the right one.

I would really appreciate any advice and/or recommendations

don't know where you're based but we went to dr halvorsen in central london for ds1 and ds2 - had consultation with him to talk thru all the jabs first(ie dtp polio etc too). he was very helpful & sensible and looked at the individual child's needs. will go back to him for dd.

I should have said, we're in Warrington, Chehsire

ah ok well hope somebody else will be along to help!

I'd be very careful about information on the JABs website.

It is very partisan and has a track record of being misleading.

And it's worth bearing in mind that no UK clinic is licensed to provide the MMR components separately.
They do so on an off label basis.

Which could lead to problems if an adverse reaction occurred, unlikely as that is.

It is of course your decision to make but I would urge you to consider a better source of information before you do.

If you are interested, some options can be provided.

unlike the nhs info which is completely objective ha ha ha

The UK licence was allowed to lapse in 1997 (an early health policy of the then incoming government). It was not overturned on safety grounds.

That said, any unlicenced medicine is used at your own risk to a certain extent. I'm not sure how far normal trading standards apply (eg faulty batch and manufacturer's responsibility).

and just to add to the licensing point (which i think is a red herring) - in fact when ds2 had an adverse reaction to 2 of the jabs he had at Halvorsen's clinic, they were extremely helpful, whereas from what i hear, if you try to report an adverse reaction to the nhs, they will completely deny it is vaccine related.

@ LadySanders

If you'll forgive me for using a NHS webpage you can see there are a number of well recognised side effects from MMR vaccination.

And if you think you have a new one we have the Yellow Card scheme which, if it makes any difference to you, is not administrated by the NHS.

Thanks for all your replies.

I am interested in any information about the best places to get the sincle vaccines if you have any

I'm afraid I don't have any information about that.

I hope all goes well.
