So embarrassed .... what do we do about threadworms?

I have changed my name due to the shame

I am sure that DS has threadworms. He often complains of an itchy bottom and I always thought it was because he may not wipe his bottom properly.
Anyway, this evening he was screaming and writhing from major intense itching ... I had a look (yuk!) and am sure I saw a couple of teeny white wormy things. His poor bottom was red and inflamed.

Feel like a terrible mum ... what do I do ... can I do something without having to go to the doctor (have been 3 times in 2 weeks with various ailments of DD and feel I live there!)
What has caused it? He is good at washing his hands after going to the loo but he is a nailbiter (more shame )

Mmmmm, the hairy wriggling turd. Don't we just love them????

Janh · 30/08/2005 21:33

Do they not tell you to take 2 doses 2 weeks apart any more?

happymerryberries · 30/08/2005 21:34

Aw shit, are you so post you even worm your tablets?

wormy · 30/08/2005 21:35

LOL @ Janh

Ok, will give you a clue to who I am ...

When I said 'this evening' I meant 'last night'

So the advice given may not apply there? Rules about which medicines are prescription may be different? Pharmacies may be different?

roisin · 30/08/2005 21:51

The repeat dose is 28 days btw, not two weeks.

Miaou · 30/08/2005 21:52

own up wormy - I did!

Janh · 30/08/2005 21:53

Ah, now I get you - that and roisin's clue!

Is it 28 days, roisin? We really haven't had them for ages (although there is still a packet of Boots' pills in the cupboard) so I have forgotten.

Miaou · 30/08/2005 21:54

dds repeat dose was 2 weeks roisin - perhaps it depends on what they are taking.

wormy · 30/08/2005 21:54

Gosh, you are brave miaou ...
I am surrounded by people who speak funny.

Doh ... Cod ...
You are too good ...

OP posts:
roisin · 30/08/2005 21:56

I thought it was 28 days, but I'm doubting myself now. We had them a while back, and I'm hopeless at remembering numbers of any kind LOL!

ghosty · 30/08/2005 21:56

It is me ...
My name is ghosty and my son has threadworms ...
