Last November I swear I had swine flu. The last time I felt so ill was nearly 20 yrs ago with severe bronchitis.

I was off work for 2 weeks and only because I had to get stuff done I went back in week 3.

Since November ever cold and / or flu bug take ages to be rid of. I had the same colds as the 2 dds and they are fine. 10 days later I am still not back to normal.

The last time I was ill (June) I also ended up with a small chest infection and had antibiotics too. etc

Doctor has sent me for a chest xray and had bloods drawn but was told it is 3 weeks before he gets the results back.

Please give me some constructive ideas of what may be up so that I don't end up googling and end up reading about the worst possible scenarios.

I am reading about adrenal fatigue at the moment. It is not recognised by mainstream Dr's but can be bought on by respiratory infections. It leaves you worn out and open to getting more colds etc than usuall. Just an idea. I guess you need to boost your immune system, you could try vitamin C and Zinc.

I've never heard the term before though I was pretty sure what it meant so I had a google. I think this is at least a half of my problem. The thing is, there is nothing I think I can do in the short term to change certain aspects of my life which I know need changing. Sad

I suppose I can do other things around those that I can't change at the moment.

thanks for your input, topsi.

no I am not asthmatic. the docs has drawn bloods for 4 or 5 tests but I don't get them back for 3 weeks from Friday.

could the post viral fatigue be linked to being ill last november with swine flu? I have only felt that awful once before and it was 20 yrs ago.

I will be back at work next week (teacher) and therefore dreading it.

I have been having some pretty dreadful flus and colds as well, I was beginning to worry like you.

I'm OK at the moment so obviously I haven't done much about it ;)

My theory is that we don't get better to fight illness with age and juggling kids, work etc doesn't make the body healthier either. All we can do is eat healthy, exercise and keep good hand hygiene (I swear I am better now I make sure that I count slowly to 10 when I wash my hands and I have started washing hands not only after toilet visits and before cooking, but just generally all day when the chance presents itself).
