Very sensitive, painful teeth after bleaching :( advice please!

Has anyone ever used Enlighten bleaching system?
I was given this on Tuesday by my dentist, to use for 14 nights. He gave me the desensitising swabs, which I used before applying the bleach. Used it first on Wednesday night, teeth were quite sensitive on Thursday, so missed THursday but used the swabs, then used it last night and today I'm in agony. My bottom teeth feel as if they've been stripped! I've taken paracetamol and ibuprofen (the second seems to have taken the edge off, but still getting shooting pains), I've even tried the new Colgate Pro Relief toothpaste and my swabs but it;s awful. I rarely cry from pain but I've been in tears twice today already because of it :(
Help! Has anyone had this problem, and can anyone recommend anything to control the pain?
TIA

As an aside, I will NOT be continuing treatment and will be advising my dental practice on Tuesday.

I had mine done in Boots many years ago. I couldn't smile for a few days as they were so sensitive the cold air really hurt them. I only managed a couple of top ups at home before I couldn't bear it anymore.

Just don't do it again until they are better and even then do it for one night and leave it for a while.

Thanks Meg, I've been the same today - can't expose my teeth even to the air in the house!
I'm using Invisalign tooth aligners too at the moment - thought they were painful, but nothing compared to this!
Did you find that the few treatments you did made a difference to the colour of your teeth?

Envy at you having the Invisaligns.

It did brighten my teeth but I didn't finish the course. I just use rembrant every so often and my teeth are pretty clean. Although my dentist told me off for using whitening toothpastes as they are abrasive to the gums. I don't use it as often as I used to, it's too expensive for a start.

Grin I'm annoyed at myself for needing them tbh, I had 3 years of free orthodontic treatment at 15, resulting in lovely straight teeth, but didn;t keep up with my retention. This is mega expensive (did have a staff discount though, so I was very lucky!) so I'll definitely be doing everything he tells me after the course finishes. Only doing all this now as I'm getting married in 2 weeks; I just hope my poor teeth and their nerves have recovered by then.
Interesting what you say about whitening toothpaste - I've been using them for ages, maybe that's made my teeth more sensitive.
