Sore swollen heel-any ideas

I have been having problems with one of my heels for a bout 3 m To begin with it was just painful to walk on in a small spot on the bottom of my heel slightly inside of centre.3
After a while I was prescribed 10 days of diclofenac and told to wear trainers all teh time which seemed to really help. But within a couple of days of finishing the course it has come back with a vengence.it isn't too bad in the morning but gets worse as the day goes on .By evening it feels hot and swollen and the contour of the bottom of my foot has changed. Also a row of small white spongey swellings have developed on the inside of my foot below the anklebone but above the heel.Any touch to any part of my heel eg weight of bed sheets is really painful.Have also had an x ray with results normal
Has anybody got any clue what it might be?

Could it be something like Plantar Fasciitus???

very very painful!!!

Thanks ablemable
I wondered about that but the dr thought it wasn't because PF typically is worse in the morning and eases off ,whereas mine is the opposite way round??

My PF, was bad as soon as I walked on it, the more I walked it seemed to get easier!!! But if I stopped and sat down for a few minutes then when starting to walk the bad was awful again!

I remember lying on the sofa one afternoon, the window was open(close to my feet) and there was a gentle breeze coming in - the pain on my feet was so intolerable it was untrue!!!

Will he give you a steroid injection??

Have you tried insoles in your shoes??

Try not to wear slip on shoes, I was advised not to wear flip flops or slip on shoes or boots.

If it is PF you have my sympathy, it is so painful - I ended up have my foot/leg in plaster twice (6 wks both times) had special insoles made for me, had night casts made, steroid injections, ultra sound/laser treatment, exercises.

The pain is just awful - touch wood I have not had any symptom now for 3 years!

Please please keep badgering the Dr, ask for physio.
