Help! REALLY bad belly. Getting married tomorrow.

Register office bit is tomorrow at 3pm. Poss TMI, but I just spent two hours with awful cramps (I was actually workimg out if there was any chance it could be labour) followed by what felt like my entire insides falling out of my arse.

I've only stopped shaking and the room wobbling enough to come on here, but I knew somebody on here could help- I've had flat lemonade and I'm sat here in my nearly husband's dressing gown- he came home from the pub when he heard I was ill.

I've eaten the same today as my sister and the kids and they are fine. I've spent the day pottering about the house, trying and failing to tidy up. DP thinks it could be nerves, but I don't feel nervous...

HELP. I need to be able to get married tomorrow and not just sit on a toilet feeling ill.

I'm going to try and get some sleep, but will check here if I wake in the night and in the morning, so any advice would be garetfully received...

I don't know what you've got, and hope others can offer more informed advice, but FWIW there is an anti-cramping over the counter medicine (tablets) called Buscopan, which you could get from an all-night chemist. I guess the pharmacist could advise on whether you needed to be checked out in a hospital, and whether it would be OK to take the Buscopan. It works v quickly if you take it.

Please don't see this as any kind of medical guidance though!! Totally ignorant on all such matters.

Best of luck...

Not sure I can get anywhere like that until the morning, I'd have to wake the inlaws for a lift, but will definitely go and ask tomorrow, thanks.

Oh, I breastfeed as well, just to be more complicated- is that still ok? She does have the odd bottle of formula, so can do if need be.

I'm going to go to bed now- I was worried that I was passing out (given that I felt like I was falling asleep on the toilet between cramps) but I think I am actually tired.

I'll go up to bed now, with some cordial, to sulk. NOT how I planned to spend my last night as a spinster!

Imodium. Now.

Not OK for BFing, but needs must. it will work and quickly.

DinahRod · 26/08/2010 00:18

Hot water bottle and sleep. Toast for breakfast and then see how you feel.

Very good luck for tomorrow Smile

moaningminniewhingesagain · 26/08/2010 05:21

Loperamide (imodium) - Hales Medications and Mothers Milk - states is usually compatible with breastfeeding.

I have taken it regularly for my IBS symptoms while BF with no problems at all.

It could well be nerves even though you don't feel conscious of feeling stressed - although obv it might be a bug.

Hope you got some sleep over night, and good luck for the big daySmile

ButterpieBride · 26/08/2010 08:04

I'm worried about immodium though- will it not make me feel worse as my body isn't getting rid of the bad things?

Feeling quite a lot better this morning- just a bit shaky and fragile, but then I haven't eaten or drunk anything, which I am going to have to at some point...

Any more diarrhoea?

If yes, take some immodium just to get through the day not rushing to the loo.
Any bad stuff will come out eventually (hopefully tomorrow) but you just need to get through today.

If no, maybe it's all passed through and you will be ok, try eating some plain stuff (well whatever you fancy that you think will stay down), something that will line the stomach a bit, bread, etc.
and keep drinking, but not plain water as that goes straight through, cordial is good.

Good luck & hope you have a fab day after all :)

Re hydration sachets work as well as you lose a lot vital fluids and dehydrate with diahorrea.

Could be something you've eaten, as often it can take up to 2-3 days to make you sick depending on the bacteria.

Really hope you feel better, it could easily be nerves. Have a wonderful wedding day Smile Congratulations!

ButterpieBride · 26/08/2010 08:34

I think it must be something I've eaten, as nobody else is ill. Or nerves. I hope so anyway. I'm feeling a lot better already.

Butterpie How did you wedding go?

Hope you had a wonderful time x

ButterpieBride · 27/08/2010 10:20

It was lovely :)

We were in and out of the register office in ten minutes- the woman was really puzzled when we said we wanted the short ceremony, she kept saying "it IS very...short", she was a bit alarmed that we didn't want music either, but it was great, really simple and understated- just two people getting married in front of their close family. DD1 wandered up half way through and held my hand and DD2 babbled all the way through, and my school friend giggled when the lady asked if there was any just impediment :)

Me and DP, sorry, DH :) keep grinning like loons.

Now we have to get ready for tomorrow- big white dress, bridemaids, flowers and all, for a ceremony in front of everyone.

Exciting :D ) Grin
