Last night my DS fell out of bed and from what i can gather is that he hit is mouth on the bedside table.

This morning i have noticed that around the top of his right front tooth there is some blood i think, im not sure as he wont let me look.

He also says its wobbley but when he says hes moving it with his tongue i cant see it move.

I have managed to make a emergency appointment for him at the denist today at 11am, but i am crapping myself i feel sick and what comes with it sometimes (dont want to put people off there breakfast with details but you get the picture)

What can i expect what will the dentist do?
If the tooth is wobbely what will happen, can it be saved??

I really dont want him starting school with a missing tooth Sad

Help !!!!

so it's a baby tooth yes? one he is going to lose in the next year or so anyway?

I think when you knock a tooth it can feel as though it wobbles - but if it's not visible and he doesn't keep pushing at it it will be fine I'm sure

the worst that will happen is that he will be one of the first to get a visit from the tooth fairy - kudos

mousymouse · 25/08/2010 09:23

it will probably be ok.
it might be wobbly for a few days but that is nothing to worry about. only if it starts beeing painful but the dentist will explain more.
the tooth might become discoloured in the next months due to the bruise underneath, but again that is nothing to worry about.

Yes it is a baby tooth, i no i am probably over reacting but it has really got me all funny and upset.

DS is going to be 5 on the 4th Sept, so if he does loose it wont he have a gap for about 2 years, will he have trouble eating?

Hes fine still running around and not listening to mummy, its just me thats the nervous wreak Blush

Have responded on your other thread (you created two!).
And if it's a milk tooth, then, really, it's not a big deal.

sorry didnt see ur post mousy

Thanks i am hoping the dentist will put my mind at rest.

If it wasnt he birthday coming up or his first day at school aswell two days after, i dont think it would be this bad.

Im just waiting for the third thing, he's got a carpet burn on his nose from the other day cus he thought it would be a good idea to drag his face along the floor Hmm

Dont think i can cope with much more tho!

Calm down, he will be fine Smile. But if you keep working yourself up into a frenzy about little things that you think might adversely affect his start at school then he is bound to pick up on it and it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Hai1988 · 25/08/2010 09:41

I am fine from the outside, i just have a nervous feeling in my stomach and its making me feel crap.

porridge, smoothie, beans without the toast

winnybella · 25/08/2010 10:26

I didn't notice that you posted in two topics, I thought you did accidentally, wasn't being critcal! Smile

Yes, gie him something that doesn't require much chewing. Banana? Avocado? And what mouse said.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 25/08/2010 10:31

BTW, DS is five and a half and has already lost his two bottom front teeth (and is working on the top ones), so if he does lose it it won't necessarily be years before the adult one comes through.

Hai1988 · 25/08/2010 12:12

Hi just thought I'd update you all.

Dentist said that it is wobbly, it might re set if left alone, but that if it did fall out it wasnt the end of the world, as the root was beginning to dissolve anyway so it wont be long before a new tooth would come through anyway.

still cant help but worry anyway. I have inherted my mothers nerves

DS is eating spagetti shapes in a very strange way, he has he head tilted to the size so the food doesnt go on the hurt tooth (as he says)

Also taking the smallest bites ever.
