My feet, as another thread here will attest, are pure Alligator. They need help.

All replies I had were really helpful but I am curious to know the following:

What's the difference between a chiropodist and a podiatrist?

What, when faced with dry scaly feet, do they actually do on the day- a soak? A de-scale? Out with the scalpel? A rubbing in of unguents?

And does it hurt? Not being whimpish but, like visiting the dental hygienist, do you come away wondering whether the pain is worth the gain?! Do you hobble for a bit?

Thanks for any input!

I think a podiatrist is more concerned with your gait (the way you walk, your fallen arches etc etc)

A chirpodist sorts out feet problems, skin, verrucas, corns etc.

A friend of mine had 'manky feet' (her words, not mine) and she just went to chirpodist and presented them saying 'please help them look better'. The chirpodist was really nice about it and basically scraped away and shaved the dead skin off. It took more than one sessions. Not painful at all, nowhere near as painful/uncomfortable as the dental hygenist.

When it's done, invest in a ped egg and everytime you have a shower or a bath, file your feet when they are wet and moisturise - I do this and my feet are like a baby's bum!

No difference between the two - two titles for the same thing (we used to joke with the podiatry students about it). here
