Can being very overweight affect periods?

I think research shows that fat cells store oestrogen and other hormones (being fat soluble) and of course toxins.

Being overweight is a bad idea for your general health. And can affect your menstrual cycle as well as other endocrine systems - thyroid / insulin etc.

Losing weight if one is very heavy is best done with help of a GP or other health professional (like a dietitian or endocrinologist) as there may be a "healing crisis" when all the toxins and hormones are released as the fat cells empty, and one may need support.

In what way? what is going wrong?
If you are overweight it can be a sign of PCOS but normally fat cells produce more oestrogen so you are unlikely to have periods that stop, unlike anorexics.
