I came down with a nasty chest infection while on holiday in Devon (nice timing!) woke up with sweats and chills with a temp of 37.5.

As i have asthma and was feeling pretty rotten, my mum who joined us for the holiday, took me to the out of hours doc. She said that I have a really nasty infection so gave me antibiotics, steroids and increased doses of my inhalers.

Finished the meds, and feeling no better, so went back today at my own doc, who doubled the antibiotic strength, and need to take them for a further 7 days

The sweats etc have disappeared, but I am still really struggling with the coughing and breathing. I sound like darth vader!!!!

Night times are a pig, and the noises coming from my chest are odd to say the least! It seems to rumble for a while after every exhale, and is always worse in the evenings.

Is there anything I can do to get some decent sleep and a little relief? It's getting a little boring now! Grin

Olbas oil, night nurse, vicks, warm flannel on your chest...

could try decongestant tablet and sprey, might dry you up a bit, other than that paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Head over a bowl of steaming menthol/olbas etc (3 times a day for AT LEAST 20 mins each time). Lots of nice herbal teas - Lemon & Ginger particularly good. Check if you can take echinacea with your meds - the dissolvable ones from Boots seem particularly good. Potters chesty cough tablets. Plenty of sleep - ha!

Hope you feel better soon.
