Hi...
Just wondering if anyone else has been diagnosed with Restless Leg Syndrome (sometimes called Ekbom Syndrome)??

And...what are you doing to relieve the symptoms?

I haven't been formally diagnosed, but I do get this (sometimes during the night, my muscles feel "itchy" IYSWIM). My solution is try to exercise during the day, and if it does happen at night, I have to walk around for a bit, try and stretch, and then it relieves it a bit

hi eve....i get this every night when i go to bed. My legs ache and im forever stretching them and rolling around my bed. The pain keeps me awake. then my muscles sometimes burn and ache too. what symptoms do you get

KurriKurri · 09/08/2010 23:16

I get very achy legs at night, and also roll around and can't sleep with it, I'm currently trying two massage rubs - Massage Balm with Arnica (Weleda) and Potter's Comfrey Oil massage rub. I got them both in Holland and Barrett and they seem to help a bit Smile

my feet also feel weird..internally hot and a feeling of being swollen ,but not,IYGWIM

Am I right in thinking magnesium cures this...? I'm sure I read that.

ClaudiaSchiffer · 09/08/2010 23:42

Yup Beautiful, you're right. I was told by a Pharmacist that Magnesium is the thing to take - so I bought Ultras Muscleze It's a Magnesium powder and it does seem to help my achy legs . This is Australian but you must be able to get something similar in the UK.

I find red wine makes it worse - so try to avoid it. Also excessive exercise makes it worse.

Actually this tells you more about the product.

Magnesium...hadn't heard that one!

I've had this since I was a teenager, but only intermittently back then. Since having DCs it's far worse, and now considered severe(I have it every night, and it wakes me up in the night). I've been on a prescribed medication for it, but the medicine has stopped working; and I don't like the idea of taking drugs for the rest of my life when I'm only 38! So, I want to try more natural remedies...I've done the massage thing, but haven't tried magnesium. My grandmother swears by Vitamin E, so I want to give that a go, as well.

Mine aren't painful...I just call them 'creepies'...my legs just don't want to be still!! Feels like crawling inside my legs. Drives me insane!!

It's just good to try and get some other ideas...my GP has never encountered it before, so he's pretty willing to go along with whatever I want to try!

Have you been tested for anaemia?
I've heard that this can be related.
I had it alot in pregnancy.

Hi, can I throw a question in as well please?

I've been suffering from restless leg syndrome (only self diagnosed but my Dad had it so I think I know the symptoms) for the last couple of months. But i also have tiny, little pin pricks in my legs. It seems to be spreading and I'm getting the pin pricks in the rest of my body as well now.

Both the pin pricks in the legs and the RLS started after I had an early MC in June.

My GP just said that I didn't seem to be high risk for deep vein thrombosis and to see how it goes.

I'm wondering if I could be aneamic. (I had a MMC in feb as well so that could have affected things).

The only way I can describe the feeling is - it's like getting an insect caught in your trouser leg and wondering if it's biting at you. Confused.

Any ideas??

I haven't been diagnosed but have noticed that late at night my legs start jittering and i can't stop them moving. It's not painful or anything, just annoying. I sometimes think it's my body's way of telling me that i'm overtired and i need to go to bed. Once i'm asleep i'm fine and it doesn't keep me awake. I don't take anything for it as it isn't that bad at the moment, just not sure if it get's worse as you get older. Confused

EveWasFramed72 · 12/08/2010 18:53

morag...yes...my GP did a complete check on me before he prescribed the medication, just to make sure that it wasn't a result of something else.

hippychick I've never had pin pricks accompanied with my RLS...but it may be a variation on the RLS. Must be annoying!!

I tried the magnesium, and it actually helped me get to sleep without any symptoms which was good, but I was awakened by DD in the night, and the 'creepies' started up, so it didn't give me relief all night. But, it made it a little better, so I'll keep trying it!
