Loose crown

Hello clever ladies

A few years ago I had a crown put in privately as it was nicer than an NHS metal one. However it is a bit loose now and causing sensitivity.

The question is it is fixable under NHS treatments or would I have to pay for it privately? I get free dental care at the moment as I am a single parent on a low income.

Would be interested to hear. There is no way I can afford to spend hundreds on it so what would I do? I seem to recall it cost me £350 to put it in!

Thanks for any light than can be shed!

Hi Equinox, sorry dont know the answer re NHS costs, but I would urge you to get it seen to sooner rather than later.
I don't want to alarm you but my experience was that when my crown was loose I left it till my next routine appointment, but by that time the bone had started to rot and I needed major treatment to correct the damage Sad

Ooh thank you for letting me know! My routine appointment is 7th october, I bet if I ring up for an earlier one they simply won't have one but definitely worth a phone call.

I had a loose crown, it turned out that the root had split and I needed the crown/tooth removing. They will do an x-ray, yours may just need fixing back in.

My treatment was NHS free as I had a maternity exemption. I don't see why your treatment would not be free.
