I know there are a few of you out there!? I'm going in for day surgery arthrocopy and subacromial decompression next Monday and I was wondering if any of the dodgy shoulder ladies are still about???

Quite nervous

I haven't got a dodgy shoulder but have got dodgy knees and had arthroscopies and cartillage trimming done on both of them a couple of years ago. So whilst I cannot offer any pearls of wisdom about your shoulder I just wanted to say good luck as I know how scary it can be!! I was petrified of the general anaesthetic and really thought I would die and not wake up! The only tip I can offer is to say that whatever physiotherapy you are offered or exercises you are told to do after surgery...do them!! Joints don't take too kindly to being poked and prodded around inside and the surrounding muscles can get very weak and atrophied if you don't try to keep them strong and as mobile as you are allowed to post-surgery which can make recovery really hard. Good luck, hope it solves your pain.

dodgy knees welcome :) I'm ok with the general just a bit scared of even more pain :( No pain no gain in the shoulder stakes I am told!

Hi mspotatochip.

I was one of the people that had the sub acrominal decompressions this year.

I had mine in march the 19th and it was painful for a good few weeks. loads of physio and painkillers help but remember it will take a good 12 months to get over it and get it back to normal.

Please dont do like i done i thought it felt perfect back to normal so decided to do some decorating.

Big mistake my shoulder went pop and it looks like i am heading back under the knife.

Ive just seen the surgeon wnad he has given me a 3 month time span if it gets worse go back sooner. If its no better in 3 months im under the knife again.

If you learn from my mistkae im sure it will be fine. let us know how you get on.

They did an xray and an ultrasound. it was easy to see the problem on the xray.

they done the ultra sound to get the measurments on how big the bursa was that they were removing.

I see from your profile you are in the south of england I am in wiltshire and had my op done at the private hospital on the nhs. They were fantastic.
