Anyone know anything about what I should/could take to pep me up a bit?

My diet is pretty good generally but Im so tired and lethargic. I also know that my Iron levels are quite low as I tried (and failed) to give blood a couple of months ago. Ive been trying the green leafy veg thing but it doesnt seem to be working that well.
I had a miscarriage a couple of weeks ago, and am a bit down because of it.
I guess we are gently trying to conceive again too.

Should I just take a generic multi vitamin or is there anything specific anyone could recommend?

Thanks for your help!

I find Pharmaton very good after being ill, sorry about your m/c.

Sorry about your MC.

This may be controversial, but vits and mins are a real waste of money. As long as you eat well, you don't need them.

If you have a particular deficiency, such as not eating dairy so may be short of calcium etc, or don't eat red meat so maybe short of iron, fair enough.

But they won't give you energy. Myth.

Are you getting your 5 a day and daily exercise? The recommended minimum is 30 mins 5 x a week. It really does make a difference-if I haven't exercised for a day or so I feel lethargic.

Don't go for generic multivit, go specific.
Decrease wheat in your diet, this will improve absorption of nutrients.
A lot of people worry about iron, buit forget about Zn, which is very often deficient even if you fix iron, in fact iron will push out Zn.
Try vit B complex, Zn, Mg, you could also consider either fish oils (with D vit) and/or omega capsules. But don't take them all together, try to alternate and always with food, this will help absorption.
You could have your hair sample tested for deficiencies, which is better than relying on a random blood test which will just reflect what you may have recently eaten.
There is a lab called Foresight which specifically deals with problems with conceiving. I tested my ds hair there (by post) as of course they also help for general health. Can't remeber now how much I paid, but I think around £40. They picked up Zn def, which didn't show up in any obvious way in blood tests, but it's very relevant in ttc too - and never really tested. They give you advice what to take, although personally I don't like high doses of anything, so take less but tweak the diet to add what's needed.

Drink a glass of orange juice with your meals; that helps a lot with iron absorption.

You'll be wanting to take a folic acid supplement if you're TTC (even slightly) - so a general pregnancy multi-vit's probably a good idea.

Good luck and best wishes in your recovery.
