Warts on my 2yr old thumbsucking son's thumb

Hmmm, that is about it really. There is one on the tip and one on the side, they are both really big, and are hurting a bit. I put him on Thuja (homeopathic) but after about 40 days it doesn't seem to have made the slightest difference - I was told they should go in a month if the Thuja was going to work.

Because he sucks his thumb at night and a fair amount during the day I don't feel I can put tea tree oil or anything on it - or can I? Any suggestions? Or does anyone know how long they take to go naturally?
Thanks

Can warts spread into mouths? That's all I'd be concerned about, I guess. Otherwise, I'd treat the wart, stick a glove on overnight and you can bet your life he'll use the other thumb .

He'll just take the glove off, surely? Unless I bandage it? Won't he just scream like a banshee for hours? Does that wart stuff act instantly? Aurgh, so many questions...

Unless you get them frozen off .

You can but try with the glove thing - I'f bandage it on, I think.

princesspeahead · 24/08/2005 14:49

no I can't bear the thought of freezing them off...

anyone know how long they take to go naturally? He has had them for, I don't know, 3 or 4 months now?

Sorry for the bad news, but warts can take a year or more to go naturally.

I get warts from time to time and have treated some successfully with the salicylic acid based things you get from the chemist. It takes about a week to work, depending on the size of the wart. It doesn't hurt at all, so he wouldn't scream, unless of course he screamed because he missed his thumb.

bad news from me I?m afraid
ds1 had lots of warts on both hands at one stage, went to docs but he was too young (4 IIRC) to haev them frozen off.
They did begin to bother him ie he was conscious of them so I treated them with salycylic acid but it made no dfference.
Then one day they were just all gone!
Took agggggges tho.
DD (4) now has one nasty one on one hand and another smaller one on her other hand. dh has treated the nasty one with Wartner (sp) from the chemists, it started bleeding endlessly and is certinaly smaller but still there.
so my advice is just to leave em, are they really hurting him??
(btw I am also expert on worms and nits as well, oh we are well expert on infestations in this family!)

I think they are bothering him - he often looks at them, then shows them to me and says "uh oh" and things like that...
poo
I hate warts

yeah pph, that?s how ds1 was with his. I don?t think they are actually painful are they? but it was when he began to point them out that I took him to the docs.
sorry cannot be more help.
