fat and sore - help please

Ok vile post so apologies first. You know how hugely fat people (I mean 30 stone + brigade) get sores between the folds of their fat? Well I am horrified. I am a size 20 ? I hold it well except overhang from big tummy that never seems to have recovered from 2 c sections (and copious amounts of eating since).

I just felt a funny twinge annd touched my very low tummy and looking under it I have a sore going nearly the whole way across my cs scar ? it is red, sweaty and it really smells! I have only just noticed it. I am so disgusted.

What do I do to treat? Just wash and apply what? Keep it dry or moisturised? Shall I see a doctor to see if infected ? I don?t think it is but I am definitely feeling ?pulling type? pain. My youngest is 2 ½ years so this is not a recent scar but my goodness.

Talk about a kick to lose some weight. The only down side being even if I lost lots my tummy has basically collapsed and I would need some surgery I think to ever get it back to acceptable. I am so ashamed.

I would say keep it clean but most importantly dry. Talc will help.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 01/08/2010 20:28

You need to pop and see your GP to check that it's not infected. In the mean time, gently wash it and pat it dry, keep it clean and dry if you can with a dressing.

It sounds really painful There's no need to be ashamed, it's not your fault.

notsleepingthrough · 01/08/2010 21:42

unfortunately it is my fault - I am the one who has been eating. Thanks very much. Will try and get doctor's appointment tomorrow

Nobody's perfect. Don't beat yourself up about it.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 01/08/2010 22:50

Tis very likely to be a bit of a fungal rash, No to talc as it will clump and rub.

I would try some 1% canesten cream(you can get it over the counter, eg for fungal nappy rash)if you have some around, keep it clean and dry. I wouldn't put moisturiser on it.

See GP if that doesn't help though.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 01/08/2010 22:52

Sound like this?

BTW I have had similar despite being a relatively normal weight and mild overhang (2 x CS here too), don't flog yourself too much

gtamom · 02/08/2010 06:43

I agree, use an anti-fungal cream. My friend goes through this in summer months, and it sounds like the same thing. Using a hairdryer on low, aimed at the irritated area, about a foot away from your body, for maybe one minute, several times a day, will help dry up it up too.

notsleepingthrough · 02/08/2010 08:14

thanks all. I can't get to doctor today - just been told will have to wait until Thursday! Will get some canestan.

off to find people to talk about tummy tucks too - does anyone know anyone had one on here? I need to lose this weight and get this sorted!

notsleeping - after my section my scar took ages to heal and was as you describe. I used a product called Dermol that you can buy in the chemist. It is used for eczema but if you use it to wash across your scar, dry the area gently and then apply a little more it will help it heal up and stay healthy.

buktus · 02/08/2010 08:26

I have had one, if you go to the chemist they sell a special talc for this problem that i used to use don't use normal talc it will clog this is special medicated talc - i spent a long time on and off of antibiotics as i was left with a big apron from 3 kids, 3 sections - i wasnt skinny or really big just has this massive tummy hanging so on my first consultation my surgeon said i was an ideal weight and i wouldnt have to lose any weight to get the better effect from the operation

notsleepingthrough · 02/08/2010 08:38

ooh thanks all. sounds interesting. Have you had this done? I should make it clear this is from the weight now I am sure - if I had been a real slimster or lost all the baby weight in a few months I am not sure the cs's would have caused this.

When I got a fungal infection across my CS scar (not long after DS was born) I was told to dry the rash after a shower/bath with a hairdryer on a low setting, then put canesten cream on. That was smelly, too, before I started treating it (nice!)

I love MN - it makes me feel I am not alone with some of life's wonderful episodes

Tea tree helps with fungal infections. It will sting at first but it takes away soreness and itching.

Lotkinsgonecurly · 02/08/2010 09:07

I get this sometimes, it is a wake up call re weight I find

To try and aleviate, wash and pat dry then I use an unperfumed moisturiser and lie down with nothing on at any opportunity and it really does clear up very quickly, or I used sudafed after a c-section, that cleared everything up.
