It had been going round her class the entire of last term. cases seemed to pop up again just as they were leaving.

she had it confirmed by the Dr today and has cream.

Oh i feel so unclean

I know it is just an infection and nothing to do with cleanlyness blah blah blah but still....EURRRGHHH

I am trying very hard not to let DD see me disinfect everything in her room as i dont want her to feel like she has anything to worry about but omg i am freaking out

i didn't pass mine onto anyone else. made sure noone used my towels though. and whern the cream didn't work got some tablets to take which worked.

no idea where i picked it up from either.

AMumInScotland · 27/07/2010 20:08

At least its not really worms, I mean its no worse than athlete's foot.

Gigantaur · 27/07/2010 20:10

oh no, the cream didn't work

I'd always thought ringworm was an animal thing and was an actual worm.

i know i am totally over reacting.

I've stripped her bed and hot washed it all.

she has her own towels and flanels anyway so that was easy.

ds had a patch on his back, it's just a fungal thing, nothing unclean about it at all, haven't got a clue where he got it from.
I made sure we didn't share towels and he slept in a tshirt each night and we washed our hands thoroughly after putting on the cream.
I'm not going to lie it took a couple of months for it to disappear but we put the cream on as instructed and it made a difference in the end.

Gigantaur · 27/07/2010 20:33

a month!

omg i thought it'd only take about a week.

and yes DD's is on her back too.
about the size of a 10p.

it does look pretty inflamed and itchy but she says it doesn't hurt and she doesn't seem to be scratching at it.

Some of the children that caught it at school had it on their faces poor loves.

Very glad hers isn't.

Is it likely to spread do you think.

OP posts:
netbook · 27/07/2010 20:41

Sounds the same as ds, it didn't spread, stayed in one place, didn't get any bigger, he wasn't fussed by it at all. his preschool freaked out at it when he told them, I hadn't, but to be fair, I'd checked with the dr and once you use the cream it stopped being spreadable iyswim. And the next time he was there was 5 days after he'd been diagnosed.
Just to warn you, you're supposed to use the cream for at least a week after it's gone to make sure you got it all, and I reckon it took at least 2 months to go.

Gigantaur · 27/07/2010 20:58

yes the chemist did say about using it for a week after it all went.

stnned it takes so long to go though.

at least it during the holidays.

My DH had it as some of the posters say it's only fungal; a bit of tea tree oil and it just goes, clean sheets or not!!

DollyTwat · 28/07/2010 13:20

DS2 caught it after having his face painted at a holiday club (always avoid face painters now). It was on his face, then on his arm, then spread to his leg.

It took about 6 weeks of applying the cream at least twice a day to get rid of. It's very stubborn.

No-one else in the family caught it though.
