Anyone had a steroid/ local anaesthetic shot in pregnancy

I know this is a really long shot (no pun intended) but I was wondering whether anyone on here has ever had a steriod/ local anaesthetic shot in pregnancy?

I have had hip bursitis in a previous preg, but didn't have it diagnosed until after the event. Think I have it again now, bilaterally, and as a charming accompaniment to pelvic girdle pain.

So... obviously I will ask the GP for his opinion (he is great) but just wondering if anyone on here had any experience to share of getting the cortisone/ anaesthetic shot in pregnancy. I have codydramol and physio for the PGP but it's only of limited help ....

I have this feeling that the injection is probably not advised and I'll have to put up until the babe is born , which if needs be of course I'll do but I would really love to get some effective treatment if at all possible....

I had something called DeQuervain's Tendonitis in my hand while I was pregnant, and I did get a steroid injection into my wrist to try and help and was told by my GP it was ok. I think I was about 6-7 months pregnant? Unfortunately it didn't help much, and the next step was surgery, but obviously only after the baby came. Once DS was here, the tendonitis quickly went away so I didn't need anything further.

I also had PGP too, my sympathy to you. Only thing that helped me was seeing an osteopath, but I didn't have bursitis.

Thanks yankn for that.Rather unbelievably, I have also had dequervain's in my hand, as a consequence of breastfeeding a rather heavy and wriggly child. Very unpleasant so I sympathise. I must be a very inflammatory kind of person

Oh you poor thing! Hope the GP will sort you out.

The colloquial name for it is 'washerwoman's wrist'. It was miserable and meant I couldn't pick up anything remotely heavy, or I'd have a sharp pain and would drop it. Then I was so swollen near the end my fingers were going numb, so I just dropped everything.

Remind me why I want to have another baby?

Oh, you know it's worth it in the end! Keep telling yourself, pregnancy and post-preg discomforts are temporary, temporary. God, I hope so anyway.
