Tsh is thyroid stimulating hormone. the pituitory gland produces this to stimulate the thyroid gland to produce thyroxine (t)
The more the thyroid gland is failing the harder the pituitory works to produce tsh. If your tsh is high normal but the t4 is reduced at each testing the pituitory is working overtime to produce tsh but the thyroid gland cant produce enough thyroxine and this reduces month on month as it fails. The lower the thyroxine becomes the more symptoms you will have.

I was in this situation and opted to start on thyroxine tablets rather than become hypo (low) thyroid. When this occurs you get more symptoms. I am on the lowest dose and my recent blood test was fine.

I cant comment on your actual results as I dont have a reference of normal values (found on the blood form) (abnormal usually show red) www.thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/pages/diagnosis/blood_tests.html this may help but I cant relate them to your results, your GP can help you here.

Normal levels for TSH should be between 0.3-3 (although some GPs still say 0.5-5). For T4 it should be between 4.5 and 12.5. In other words: your TSH is way too low and your T4 is way too high.

Sounds like you are HYPERthyroid to me! Are you on thyroxin? If so, your dose might be too high. What did your GP say?

Tiredness can be a symptom for both hypo and hyperthyroidism. Do you also suffer from any of the following: anxiety, sweating, sensitivity to heat, frequent bowel movements, palpitations, muscle cramps, weak/achy muscles esp in arms and legs?

Go to your GP and discuss. I haven't got any experience with hyperthyroidism, but since I've suffered from an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) since 2004, I do know very well how awful this little gland can make you feel, when it's not working properly.

Hope you get it fixed soon!

It is definitely a HYPERthyroid set of results My T4 was about that too but my TSH was 0.002. The GP started me on PTU and reffered me to an endcrinologist who did a range of other bloods and checked my dose and I went back every 6 weeks until I had a stable reading then they reduced the tablets to a holding dose - which was the lowest dose to keep your thyroid under control. I was constantly hot, had tremors, fast heartrate and could sweat puddles. I got PG whilst hyper and they managed to get me off meds now 8 week post birth my first set of results have come back normal and we are now waiting to see if it stays normal or reverts to HYPER.
