Side effects from Alli - liver pain

I've been taking Alli for 3 months, and other than the shitty poos"treatment effects", it's been going great, I've lost loads of weight, and I'm now below the recommended BMI of 28.

In the last week, I've been getting quite a lot of discomfort, bordering on pain under my right ribs about an hour after taking Alli, and lasting for about 3-4 hours. If I still had a gall bladder, I'd've thought it was gall bladder pain, but as I don't any more, I'm guessing it's my liver.

I've stopped taking Alli now, but I'm still having a bit of liver tenderness. Should I go to my GP? I'm slightly worried that I've done permanent damage.

Always worth a check by your GP, I think.

Did you follow the guidelines on the packet?

Yes, followed the guidelines to the letter, other than the fact that I now have a BMI of 26 rather than 28, that is the minimum BMI at which you can buy it. I can't imagine that should make too big a difference.

Um, I'm no expert but there was a thread a few months back about alli and it being quite dangerous and unhealthy. So I'd go see a GP and just get it checked out tbh.

What you describe sounds similar to reaction I once had to antibiotics. When a liver function test was done I had very high enzyme rates (or gamma globulin or something like that!) which meant my liver wasn't doing too well hence the pain....Good news is that once I'd stopped taking the tablets and they repeated the test a few days then a month later all went back to norml and no lasting damage. Does put me off having too much to drink though - have a new respect for my liver!

So, yes, go to the GP but don't worry too much about damage as the liver can regenerate itself to some extent.
