Getting fit with weak pelvic floor

Not sure if this is the right place but here we go.

Have a 19week LO and really want to start exercising again to get fit and hopefully lose some weight. Still ebf so don't want to cut down on calories just yet. Have been running on/off, recently tried to step this up, and realised I'm not quite there yet.

Have started redoing PF exercises with vigour but had read somewhere to not do high impact stuff for at least 6 weeks.

I was climbing, but have moved somewhere without a local indoor or outdoor locations and have just returned to work full time. Am expressing during the work day, so I don't really have any spare time to say do something at lunch time. Also most classes around here seem to be in the early evening and naturally I want to be at home enjoying time with LO before she goes to sleep. That's why running was so good as I could do late at night whenever I felt like it.

Was thinking of buying a bike, but can't see it interesting me for more than 1 night a week so after some exercise ideas. Was looking to do three exercise sessions a week, but don't mind how short or long (I was only doing 1 - 3 mile runs anyway).

Have seen a weekend capoeira class, which I thought might be OK, but want independent exercise ideas (i.e. things I can do on my own) in case things prop up (which with a baby always do).

Thanks for any suggestions

If the problem is stress incontinence, you can get a device that sits in the vagina like a tampon, and supports the bladder. I got one from Boots, but they had to order it. I'm sure Google will throw up some online sellers.

In an emergency, I used to use a smallish tampon.

I'd thought of that, but wondering if I'd be damaging the muscle even more by driving on through it.

and clench two three four......

try speed walking and working up to running - your pelvic muscles will get stronger over time (and in the meantime use tena pads). Also ensrue you've emptied your bladder before you exercise.

Exercise dvds are a good thing to do in the evenings while your little one sleeps (your stuck inside anyway) - the Davina Mccall ones are good (you can go low impact version until your pelvic floor is up to the high impact stuff) as is the Hannah Waterman work out (though again keep it low impact if possible).

ooh like the DVD idea, I'm off to check out amazon (though am in America so prob won't do the ones you mentioned).

Had been emptying bladder before hand and using pads. Its just annoying because I was fine with running, then suddenly I wasn't. Probably because I'm drinking alot more in this heat.

Good point. You could try the Shred dvd but it is really quite high impact so I wouldnt recommend it for a bit - alternatively the Billy Blanks Taebo work outs are pretty good all round work outs.
