top tummy toning tips for the idle

OK, this is a swap.

My tip, from a (She?) magazine, is dead easy and you'll always remember - when you're brushing your teeth, stand on one leg. It tones your core muscles and works particularly well on the muscles between your waist line and your bust (in my experience). I really want to evangelise about this because I find it really works and I nearly always remember to do it twice a day - and I'm becoming better at standing on one leg for 2 mins!

However, it does nothing for my jelly belly, so please can somebody suggest an exercise that I can do (and please don't suggest sit-ups because I know it isn't going to happen) that takes very little effort and I can fit into busy day....

Being aware of your posture and holding in stomach muscles around 25% as you go about your day to day business (ie not totally sucked in you still need to be able to walk about and get on with things comfortably), really helps. I just wish I could remember to do it myself, used to do this all the time pre children and had a reasonably flat stomach.

I agree with Demented totally, on that one . Over time it really makes a difference. Eventually, it becomes a subconscious thing, as Demented said, it's posture related.

I don't think sit ups are recommended anymore anyway, crunches are much easier and just as effective. (Not that I've ever managed to get into a routine for excercise at home!)

Hmm, posture (Jamiesam sits up straight)

Any more tips anyone?

when you are lounging in bed or on the couch pull your stomach in as though you're trying to make it touch your spine .. keep doing it whenever you remember .. in quick succession and hold and release

it is supposed to be the best exercise for jelly bellies

Hmmm, a hobby? Horse riding or martial arts are great, as to do either well, you have to concentrate on posture. Plus, it's 'you' time, rolled into the bargain!

Yes, Hula hooping! Or belly dancing

Like the sound of the string Kama, might try that.

Explain?
I've been trying to hold my stomach muscles in all day. I've got a stomach ache now!
