General election 2024

Sunak says he’s never finished work at 6pm is a lie and I’ve seen him with my own eyes

So Starmer says he tries to reserve Friday evenings for family time and Rishi sticks the boot in saying “'I haven't finished at six ever.'”

so how come I’ve seen him mountain biking in the north York moors in the middle of the afternoon both before and since becoming prime minister!

@@NewGreenDuck Sunak is completely alienating his own party with this. No wonder cabinet ministers who are standing down aren't doing the rounds for him if he allows his campaign to come out with this shit.

If he’s on the north York’s moors then surely he’s on holiday. I don’t think he said he never takes holidays?

His constituency is very close so likely not on his hols.

He's absolutely pathetic isn't he. Tiny little inadequate weasel. Bragging about being too important for parenting.

It reminds me of the 4 Yorkshiremen sketch. He's boasted that his family couldn't afford Sky TV, now it's working all the hours God sends. What next? Could we suggest more stupidity he could come up with?

Not sure we could compete with his campaign team! They seem to be working quite hard to make sure he loses!

I don’t think anyone who hasn’t worked in parliament understands what the work pressures are like. I am sure you may have seen him bike riding one afternoon but I am equally sure he will have been working after that into the evening.

Like many totally misses the point.

Although being serious for a moment, if there really is an issue with Sunak's advisors deliberately setting him up, then the question arises, why?

Doesn't look like it's to favour Labour party, given the jibe was against Starmer.

The two howlers which spring immediately to mind are:
– Sunak doing a runner from D-Day for a TV interview, while Farage stayed in France getting photo opportunities.
– This absurd, lightweight throwaway, which should be ignorable playground stuff... but has this possible veer into being because the Starmer family is Jewish.

The first was seized on by some who added a racist spin.

Now about the second a PP is reporting that on radio discussion "folk kept raising he shouldn’t have left it until 2 days before to mention it. I honestly don’t understand the massive discussion on it, or concern."

I don't understand the massive discussion or concern, either, if it's just about how many hours worked a week. This makes me think there's some unspoken element affecting the speakers.

If there is something deliberate going on – and I really hope there isn't – it's not at all funny.

And maybe Starmer works a Sunday after having Friday evening off.

I’ll bet my mortgage he does. I don’t think he takes the time off the same as ordinary working people. It’s just the nature of the job.
