Yes I know they have no chance of any seats. But they align fairly closely with my views. I wish we had PR. We cannot go on with Tory but I fear most other parties view on womens rights.

Anyone else voting "small party" but following heart.

I'm voting Plaid Cymru.

notanothernana · 27/06/2024 07:57

Green. They align with my values.

LuluBlakey1 · 27/06/2024 08:00

No - Labour.

There might be a few who are voting Conservative though. ;)

hexsnidgett · 27/06/2024 08:00

I didn't even know that the sdp still existed, I thought they merged with the liberals to become the liberal democrats?

Papyrophile · 27/06/2024 08:25

I would vote SDP, but no candidate.

MarjorieDanvers · 27/06/2024 08:29

I have a choice of five candidates and the only one I feel I can vote for is labour (wouldn’t vote Reform or Tory under any circumstances and the Liberals and Greens are are neither IMO). I actually really like my Labour candidate - he’s not just the best of a bad bunch!

PinkFrogss · 27/06/2024 08:36

Haven’t had a look at SDP for a few years, just read their manifesto which is very simplistic and has a few alarming points. Not sure if we have a candidate in our area anyway though.

Come to think of it we’ve only have pamphlets from two parties, thank you for reminding me to double check who else is even running in my area!

Out of interest what do you see as alarming? Worried I missed something!

We will reduce net migration to 50,000 per annum and promote a generation long ‘mass immigration pause’ in the interests of integration and social cohesion.

We will withdraw from the 1951 UN refugee convention, the ECHR and all other international instruments which deny UK border sovereignty.

CucumberBagel · 27/06/2024 09:06

No, I'm voting tactically to remove the tories rather than wasting my vote for a party that won't win.

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/06/2024 09:07

Me. I'll vote either SDLP or People Before Profit.

MariaVT65 · 27/06/2024 09:10

No, the Greens are bloody terrible.

BIossomtoes · 27/06/2024 09:16

I’d be voting Green if their economic policy wasn’t from fairyland. I love their manifesto. And if my first priority wasn’t ejecting the Tories.

UtterlyOtterly · 27/06/2024 09:23

SDP were on my shortlist until I read their manifesto carefully. We have a candidate. We also have a Christian Democrat who won't get my vote either.

We have an Independent who seems good so he will get my vote.

This is a safe LibDem seat though.

MoonshineSon · 27/06/2024 09:24

SDP want to scrap the ECHR.
If you genuinely care about women this should worry you.

Dahliasinallotment · 27/06/2024 09:28

No. I have been a Plaid Cymru voter for years but our excellent MP is retiring and now it feels like a wasted vote. I want to get the Tories out.

So does Badenoch, how does that work?

Maddy70 · 27/06/2024 09:54

However you feel. It's worth lending your vote tactically to ensure the Tories or Farage dont get in

mumonthehill · 27/06/2024 09:57

I am voting Plaid for the first time. Our boundaries have changed and we have a good Plaid candidate who works for the community. This feels important to me this time.

MoonshineSon · 27/06/2024 10:05

Oh god I would NEVER vote Tory let alone for that awful polarising woman.

I want a PR system. If everyone voted for who they truly wanted perhaps PR would become a reality. Instead people vote not for what they want but rather because they have two badish options so they pick the least worst. The electoral system is no l9 ger fit for purpose

OP posts:
Junesuns · 27/06/2024 10:42

Green.

hoteltango · 27/06/2024 13:18

There's only two front-runners here. One is Conservative, who's replacing the current MP who is standing down - but I don't like what I've read about them from people in their previous constituency, nor their voting pattern in parliament. The other is LibDem who, being a vet, I'd hope would know that mammals can't change sex, but given the LibDem's views generally about transgenderism, I can't vote for them. Of the remaining candidates, the Independents are very much into local stuff, which doesn't translate countrywide. I hadn't realised that the SDP were still operating, and I do like many of their manifesto points.

I had thought seriously about spoiling my ballot, but now I'm thinking of voting for the SDP candidate. They stand no chance of winning, but I think it's a better use of my ballot as a protest vote.

Mainly withdrawing from the UN refugee convention, and other points related to refugees/asylum seekers.

But also under housing the preference given to married British families - I think that will just make it harder for women to leave abusive relationships.

The part about homeless people being escorted to accommodation as well, although that may just be more simplistic rather than outright concerning. There are a whole host of issues behind rough sleepers, and I’m not sure how you could force some of them to stay in accommodation. I’m also skeptical of what this accommodation would look like.
