...absolutely nothing that benefits us.

It doesn't matter which party wins. In their first year they are obligated to spend £90 billion on debt interest. That is 3.2% of GDP or 7.3% of public spending. UK national debt will be £2.7 trillion - that is nearly 99% of GDP or approx £96,000 per household.

It's funny how none of the parties mention this in their manifestos or speeches. They argue about spending 2.2% or 2.5% on defence, or spending an extra £10 billion here or £5 billion there. Just once I would like Starmer and/or Sunak to admit that they will spend £90 billion in their first year and get nothing for it. This will go on through the following years, and even get worse if they increase borrowings, which both Labour and Conservatives will do.

Just for comparison with this £90 billion/year , spending on education is £85 billion/year, on Universal Credit £89 billion/year, and Health & Social Care £180 billion a year.

On debt taken out in the interest of the country?

On debt accrued by giving bungs to its mates. It’s just adding insult to injury.

OP

Apols, sincere apols but are you aware the figures are irrelevant to both of the main parties??

Labour and the Tories' main point is to win the GE and the facts are that they may pass in a public bin when on their electioneering campaign!!#
