Exactly that really, I wouldn’t be surprised by a pensions raid. I read an article in the telegraph talking about using PFI again (which is horrifying as the article suggests the total cost of pfi is forecast to be 555% of the original loans.

I just haven’t seen much discussion and I’m wondering if anyone has seen anything concrete about Labours plans?

And yet we can't afford to support ourselves? How do other countries manage with far lower population

I highly recommend listening to the latest The Rest is Money podcast, which is an interview with IFS Head Paul Johnson. He is pretty blunt about not seeing how either side can do what they proclaim to want to do without putting taxes up. He says plainly that the current things being mentioned (adjusting the non-dom rates and VAT on school fees) are mere tinkering at the edges. The conversation suggests an increase in VAT rates is probably the most likely and that they should look at pension tax relief but that it would be very unpopular.
