Is it just me or is Genesreunited really difficult to work with?

I've been using this to build my tree -I like the way the little information boxes come up when there are matches in census records or other people's trees. However, whenever I click on these boxes to read the info and then try to get back to my tree it takes me right back to the beginning of the tree and then I have to manually click on each name until it navigates back to where I was. Does this make sense to anyone else? I often can never see a backspace arrow so just have to click on My Tree icon which takes me right back to the beginning and not back to where I was.
Is it something to do with the fact that I am using a Mac? I use Firefox too. BTW, I am using my Ancestry.co.uk free 14 day trial to the Max - it's been invaluable - I use that to look up any census stuff that Genesreunited uncovers - might have to actually pay for a month when it runs out!! Thanks for the whoever suggested this to me originally on this board!

There is a search box at the top of the tree where you could put the name of the person you were working on and it would take you straight to that part of the tree. Any help?

glasjam I have exactly the same trouble, and also have Mac and Firefox. It's probably just one of those many programmes incompatible with mac
I would also be very careful with the info you get from genesreunited. The trees on there are often not researched properly and people have just made assumptions. It's handy where you do find a link, and I've had contact with several "long lost" but known relatives.
Also their "matches" are tenuous at best. My mother's name flashes up a match, and all it is is people with the same (very common) surname and year of birth. There is no effort to check the place of birth is relevant.
Ancestry is much better

Yes Catweazle I think it is the old issue of Macs - so many websites just aren't set up for them which is ridiculous in the this day and age. Seeline, I do that search thing but all that happens is that the name appears in the dialogue box as "found" but the actual tree doesn't shift to that position. So you end up knowing that that person is on that tree SOMEWHERE but you have to manually root around for it which is a nightmare. It probably works a treat if you have a PC.
I am a fan of Ancestry - shame my free trial runs out on Sunday!

glasjam - I found ancestry better for that. What you can do is go to the section marked community and you can look for people researching the same name but you can also key in the exact person and it matches you with the tree and the exact person you are searching for. I think the section for that search is called members connect ( or something like that) about halfway down the page.
I find genesreunited not soo good either as I have an issue with living people's details being listed - whereas ancestry list them as living surname. I think then if you want some info - you can then email the person.

Well not pleased exactly but YKWIM. I couldn't understand why it didn't go to the person but just told you yep, they are in the tree
