elivina I have also managed to find a list of the other convicts who were on the voyage with your relative.

I may also be able to look at the local paper of the colony and see what I can find out when I manage a trip to the state library sometime this year!

Elvina - I have found a cd rom of the convict registers which contain the following information:

  • Name of convict, including any known aliases
    Place of trial

  • Term of years

  • Name of ship and date of departure

  • Place of arrival

  • Miscellaneous notes e.g. Died at sea; Ticket of Leave, etc.

  • The date of trial is recorded on the original registers and will be gradually added to this database

I know you know most of this but I was unable to find out if he got a pardon or ticket of leave.

Apparently the originals of the convict transportation registrations database is held in the national archives in London. You should be able to access this online even.

I headed off to the state library last night and ran out of time to check things out. I think I may be able to find more information out for you - next time I go. I will have access hopefully to newspapers from the time and can check the ticket of leave info.
