My DGP moved to the UK as displaced persons after WW2. I know the villages in Poland they came from but I don't have either of their birth certificates. I have their marriage certificate (married in the UK) and it gives their parents names. How do I go about finding out more information about them? I know so much information was lost in WW2, my DGP didnt speak at all about their life back in Poland due to PTSD. I'm not sure if Poland has a national records? Any advice? I live in the UK but I'm not able to visit their home towns as I have young children and limited finances.

There are quite a few resources available.

A good place to start is this guide, that has been translated into English, which provides links to sites and explains what sort of records are available from what dates:

https://agad.gov.pl/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/GuideEN.pdf

It also covers Ukraine as well as some areas that are in present day Lithuania and Belarus.

As well as the links given in that booklet there are also some more to look at.

This is a Polish equivalent of FreeBMD:

https://basia.famula.pl/en/

and this site is similar:

https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=se&lang=eng

and this site has digital copies of the records (but you can't search by name only by place)
