I've been researching my 2 x great grandmother for a couple of years now and, the more I learn about her, the more I feel intrigued about her! I've managed to contact with a couple of her other descendants but sadly none of them have any photos of her. The most hopeful was the grandaughter of her 2 x GGM's brother because she's the only one who physically "met" her in person. She was a very young girl at the time and my 2 x GGM was in her 80s at that time in the 1940s. She thought she might have a photo, but turns out she didn't have any after all.
Is there anywhere else I can turn? I've visited grave of 2 x GGM and regularly take flowers, spend time there just wondering about her and imagining how much we might have had in common.
I met the descendent mentioned above with my mum on one occasion and she was she was blown away by how much my mum resembles my 2 xGGM. This just makes my even more curious about seeing a photo!
Any ideas?

Where did she live as a child/young woman? There could be a local history society that has old school photographs of the time or similar. I know men often crop up in team sporting photos, for instance.

Does she appear in anyone else's family tree on sites such as Ancestry? My friends mum is in her 80's and only met her father once so asked me to find anything I could. I managed to find photos of his parents and grandparents on Ancestry It's worth a try it you haven't. Also local newspaper archives may have something. Not a photo but I found a court artist's portrait of my great great grandmothers sister who was up on a charge of bigamy.

Someone else’s tree is the most likely way, I found a photograph of a (two generations back) cousin this way. He died as a teenager in WW1 and I didn’t think I would ever see his face , then he cropped up in the tree of someone related to his mother, but not related to me dna wise.

Have you got her death certificate? I had a relative who died in hospital in the early 1920s. As it was more than 100 years ago, I could read her hospital notes at the archives, and they included her photo taken on admission.

If you know the school she attended you might be able to find class/school photos. You might also be able to read the school log book - they are fascinating and some talk about individual pupils. You could also try the local archive for photos of the street/area where she lived - I've known people find pictures of relatives this way.

Try the Mormon genealogy sites if you haven't already. Family search is one, I think. They are brilliant at uploading photos. You can also try Facebook history groups and things like 'family heirlooms reunited' groups and search for names.

Also save a search on eBay for her name and another for any roads you know she lived on + towns. Hobbyist historians buy upload and sell old photos all the time

Yes, I got a photo of my grandad and great grandad separately on ebay! I found my grandad because I had a search out for the village he lived in - it wasn't listed with his name.
