What does T.I.I.G mean on a birth certificate?

I have a short certificate for a relative born in the 1940s but issued in the 1960s. There is TIIG with a number on the bottom left of the certificate. I don’t want to give the actual number but it reads something like this:
T.I.I.G
7/262

Any ideas? The superintendent registrar who signed it off has different initials as does the person who’s birth certificate it is.

Not sure, but I think that T1 or T2 and some numbers identifies which twin was born first or second. Perhaps it's that.

You could always send for the full certificate and see whether there is any further information on that. The short one was cheaper, so people would sometimes get that instead of a full one.

Yes sending for the full certificate. Thanks. There is a strong possibility this person was adopted so I wondered if it was something to do with that.

@Iamiams What area of the country was this from?

SallySesame · 18/10/2024 13:55

@Iamiams could it be Taken Into Informal Guardianship?

That would make sense I think because I have found out the grandparents took the child in. Thank you.
