I have been doing the family tree for our family for a while and have recently moved. I would like to do a history of our house, I know who lived there before us and I know when it was build and by who, but I want to know who has lived there since 1936.
I cant get to central records which is several towns away but i have been told thats where the info would be held. Apart from travelling there which will be out of the question for a while, where else can I look at info or do i need to wait for census data to be released online?

You will have a lengthy wait as they only just released 1921 and 1931 records were destroyed. There is 1939 Register online and some electoral rolls. Newspaper Archives may throw up some relevant articles or birth/death/marriage announcements.

Someone on here

might help if they live in the area where the records are .

In around 2000 I was sent the original records of my then Victorian home by the mortgage company, after I asked. They kept the modern legal documents as I was still mortgaged to them. These paper documents had been used until the internet age, so every previous house owner was listed, plus the amount they had paid. Would that be a possibility?

I missed this update, sadly they only had records from the build of the house, we are lucky because we have original sales and build records. You could buy one massive plot and build a beautiful home on it for £500 once. Must have been a fortune to the people at the time. After his work the trail runs cold

You may be lucky and find the electoral register on Ancestry or Find My Past. I did this recently for my house and every year from 1919 when it was built to 1938 is on Ancestry.

In our village there is a very active local history group and lots of people who have lived here for ever. You probably have an active local Facebook group, you could try there to see if anyone remembers anything.
