Sorry just realised you said street, no idea. Sorry

56 Saunders Drive ...possibly?

DustyLee123 · 14/05/2023 21:38

Galveden Drive ?

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 14/05/2023 21:38

Garrules Drive

WestOfWestminster · 14/05/2023 21:40

The first bit looks like 5b to me... the rest is tricky!

RoseslnTheHospital · 14/05/2023 21:47

I would look at several pages written by the same census taker and look at parts that are easy to read. Look at how they write each letter and then compare to the street you're looking at. That can help to decipher it.

Gaerwen Street

MrsBarbaraLangerhans · 14/05/2023 21:50

There is a Grenadier Dr in west derby, could it be that?

Sparkesy · 14/05/2023 21:50

I was about to put Gaerwen too- could be a Welsh link?

Sparkesy · 14/05/2023 21:52

Gaerwen Street West Derby comes up in a google search but not Drive if that helps

WestOfWestminster · 14/05/2023 21:54

Something else to consider is that the spelling they've used might not be the correct one.

MrsBarbaraLangerhans · 14/05/2023 21:54

However, on streetview the houses look very modern.

Was West Derby bombed ? Many pre war streets don’t exist now

Yes, it was as included the docks at Bootle.

BestIsWest · 14/05/2023 22:04

I concur with Gaerwen street.

SwedishEdith · 14/05/2023 22:06

If you have an Ancestry account, the street name is usually transcribed for you.

Gaerwen Street existed in 1900. It’s on square O5 if you navigate the map using the left sidebar.

Wow thank you so much for all of the responses!!

I have looked on street map for some of the other addresses and some must have been bombed as parts of streets are grassed areas now or newer properties

Thank you all I have a starting point now ❤️

Looks like Gaerwen Street might have been in Everton.

To my eye it says Rd at the end. So something Road.

56 Saridess Rd?
56 Garidess Rd?

If you have an Ancestry account, the street name is usually transcribed for you.

Some of the transcriptions are absolutely shocking though. I had an ancestor on a census record transcribed as “Arplangs”.

It was Alphonso.

A tricky name, and scrawl-y handwriting, but still 😅
